Early June, Dianne and I were on assignment with the National Day of Prayer Task Force to seek out and locate a new state coordinator for northwest Alaska. We flew off into the unknown with only one point of contact. A ministry named TheCall was having a “Kingdom Come” gathering just outside of Anchorage in the town of Wasilla, and they encouraged us to set up a National Day of Prayer display table to make our presence known.
Over 1500 people attended from around Alaska. Our awesome God went before us and brought us into contact with several integral prayer leaders within the state. They are now prayerfully seeking out God’s chosen people who will fill the roles of the new Alaska State Coordinator as well as other coordinator positions across the state. Please continue to pray with us as we ask for God to raise up His chosen leadership who will faithfully guide the State of Alaska in National Day of Prayer activity not only in May but also throughout the rest of the year.
With our Alaska mission accomplished, we continued to travel the surrounding terrain, discovering that Alaska is one awesome state! The Alaskans were warm, helpful and friendly, and the Church is vibrant. The scenery and wild life were amazing. We took a few extra days to explore Denali National Park and the Kenai Fjords.
“Amazing” and “awesome” are two words which also aptly describes our new little granddaughter, Mady Ayn Walsh, born to Becky and Drew on May 3rd. But alas, she has been whisked away to the far reaches of Tallahassee, Florida, where Drew has accepted a position as the Director of Worship Arts at Killearn United Methodist Church, a very loving and supportive fellowship. Please pray for their adjustments to the new location, new ministry, new relationships, and new amazing baby.
As the summer continues to unfold before us, Joe is busy teaching a workshop for youth at Arcade Church, called Assist One Foundation. This incredible organization works closely with children who are caught up in the foster care system and aids them in finding loving, adoptive families.
In other news, CFF is collaborating with the Luis Palau Festival and it’s prayer preparations for the Festival in May 2012. In addition, we are in the beginning stages of planning the Marketplace Men’s Prayer Summit, which will take place some time this fall.
We need the Lord’s guidance in all these activities as they continue to unfold this summer. Thank you for your prayerful participation and much needed giving to California (Capitol) Fellowship Foundation. Summers are always an economic challenge for churches and ministries, and we are no different. Lastly, please pray for the Lord to continue to raise up new friends who will support the CFF ministry. Thank you so much and God bless!
With much affection and appreciation!
